As soon as I saw the sock skeleton on Martha Stewart’s site I knew I had to make it for my baby grandson. He is just six months old, and it is something he could have that would not harm him in any way. There is a video that will show you how to make the skeleton and there is a downloadable PDF file with the pattern. I took many liberties when I made mine. I used a pair of tube socks and used black yarn instead of the embroidery floss they suggest. When I made the arms I made them in one piece and then sewed across where the elbow would be would after stuffing the lower part of the arm. The felted pumpkin on in the picture below this crocheted and felted using orange wool. I left a fairly large opening in the top, because I love the look of the branch as the pumpkin stem. Go over to Martha Stewart’s and take a look at the video and download the PDF file and take a look at the pattern and then do your own thing. You could use smaller socks for little Skeletons. Experiment with this pattern and you can find many new ideas on your own.
