Louise of “knit one bake two” has this wonderful pattern for her Daffodils to share with us. She says that it’s not the most elegantly written pattern but hopefully it makes sense. She’s really would be interested to hear of any additions or modifications that could improve it if anyone feels like trying to knit them! For the darker flowers she did the petals using two strands of yellow, and the trumpet with one yellow and one red strand. The lighter ones have one strand of yellow and one of white on the petals, and two strands of yellow for the trumpet. The amount of felting required will depend on the yarn used and the type of washing machine, but her flowers went through two hot cycles. Test a small knit sample and see how your wool yarn felts. I wanted to add that Louise has not posted in several months and maybe this posting will encourage her to share some of her other patterns with us. (Note) Size US 11 – 8mm knitting needles. I would think a wool worsted weight would be fine. I plan to try one and I will let you know how it turns out.

Thanks for this! With St. David’s day on 1st March and being a Welsh woman stuck in Italy, I will be making some of these for my national day celebrations away from home.

I am happy you will use the pattern. It is nice to keep up your tradition while in another country 🙂
