This Snow flake Pendant Tutorial was inspired by the fresh fallen snow on the deep dark brown earth. It can be made in any color and with a simpler design. It could really be adapted to anything you or your children might be inspired to stitch onto felt.  Materials: box board, template for circles, pencil, scissors, felt, embroidery thread, needles and a length of wool, ribbon or trim.

She makes the most adorable “Heart Felt” dolls and “Felts Like Home” Dollhouse Ornament.  She just opened a ETSY shop called “Maureen Cracknell Handmade” and she tells me that she will be adding items daily for the holidays.   She also has started a blog called “Maureen Cracknell Handmade”.  Maureen is not new to crafting in felt.  Recently she finished up a toy line for the music duo Renee & Jeremy a unique collaboration and she thinks this is one of the coolest things she has gotten to make. All the items she created were inspired by the awesome animation for their music video for “It’s a big world” and the illustrations on their website, both done by artist Hsinping Pan. Maureen Cracknell Handmade is a home business she has recently started. With a desire to create and constant inspiration from her three children she began making clothing and toys and knew that if she was going to put anything out there, she wanted it to be green.

I bought these adorable acorns from Kim Buchheit of Wildly Woolly and I love them.  I have a small black bowl filled with them on my coffee table and people always ask where I bought them.  I always tell them where to get them but I don’t know if they buy them, but I hope they do.  Now Kim is offering a video tutorial on just how to make these darlings and the process is clear and doable.  If you are not into making them you can always buy them from Kim’s ETSY shop “Kim’s ETSY Boutique” along with some of her other fabulous felted art.  Thanks Kim, for the wonderful video tutorial.

Flora is knit and felted in Ultra Alpaca, then enhanced with free form felted flowers.  I think this is an adorable bag that can be made for the holidays.  This would be an amazing gift to gift to family or friends.  This pattern came from Berroco where they have many free patterns for you to download and print.

This Needle-Felted Blanket is such a great idea and each step is shown in a video.  You can pick your color scheme for your room or this would be an amazing holiday gift.  Use your imagination as far as shapes and placement.  How cute would this be as a sofa throws and a matching pillow or a baby blanket as a shower gift?  This video from Martha Stewart will get you mind racing as how to use this procedure on almost anything.  So give it a try, I am sure you will love it.

Martha’s Stewart does it again.  These pumpkins are amazing and easy to make.  Assembled from yarn, rope, and foam balls, these homespun pumpkin decorations are simple to make. For each, gently press top and bottom of a Styrofoam ball against a work surface to flatten ends (so ball doesn’t roll). Wrap orange roving around ball. Insert a T pin into top. Tie cream or orange mohair yarn to pin and cover ball. Cut a length of rope; place over pin, and attach with a hot-glue gun, pressing to secure.

I found the instructions for this adorable Mummy Doll on Woman’s Day magazine web site.  There is a written knitting pattern for you to follow with felting instructions.  I am going to get the yarn tonight and try one.  These are perfect for young children because they are washable and so huggable.  If anyone gets Woman’s Day and has a pattern for the ribs, maybe you could share it with us.

Since my daughter is expecting her first, I have been looking more at baby knitting and crochet patterns.  I have totally fallen in love with these slip-ons for adults and babies.  The free pattern gives instructions from newborns through adults to please the entire family.  The neutral color is a plus for me because we do not know the sex yet.  When we find out I can embellish with a girl or boy motif.  Go to Lion Brands for the downloadable PDF file. 

What a fascinating fiber artist featured on Lion Brand Yarn Studio.  Joetta has created a stunning wall hanging for this occasion.  Her work will be shown from now until the end of October we are proud to display her wonderful work, comforts .  After recycled sweaters, felt, and freeform crochet, this is our first knitted piece. Since all I want to do when the cold winds blow is knit, I decided to knit a necklace that would add some color to my thermal turtleneck while keeping me warm.

This is an easy project, fine for a beginning knitter who has knitted in the round with double pointed needles. The only tricky part is making sure you add the “links” as you go, sliding them and moving them over your needles as you go”.
