This is a Book review and Giveaway of the book titled “Subversive Seamster”: Transform Thrift Store Threads into Street Couture by authors: Melissa Rannels, Melissa Alvarado, and Hope Meng. Have you ever asked someone where did you get that skirt, blouse, jacket etc.? If you like the unusual and the dramatic pieces to wear or to decorate your home with, then this is the book for you. The author begins with the basics for those of us who see a sewing machine and turn away because of their lack of knowledge. The author also shows how to hand so when necessary. Learning to create an adorable skirt from a pair of old blue jeans is referred to as up cycling and this is caught on all around the world. How would you like to learn how to revamp a T-shirt that you are really tired of wearing and would like to give it an updated look? Recycling the close we already own is a great way to save money and to save our environment. Many people go to resale shops looking for clothing to restyle and end up turning the garment into a wonderful wearable addition to their wardrobe that they adore. Perhaps you seen a T-shirt or a blouse in a fashion magazine and you fell in love with the and although you can afford the price tag hanging from the garments, check out which you have in your closet and see if you cannot replicate this looks with something you already own. You will be surprised at how many things you can up style and tell everyone I made it myself. This book does not suggest that you go out and spend hundreds of dollars on fabric to make a new outfit, what they do suggest is restyling that classic white blouse with pin tucking down the front of it for a fresh new look. Look around for a sewing machine that suits your purposes if you are a beginner and find the best bargain for a machine and let’s get sewing. Turn your thrift stores threads into street Chic. This book is also available on Amazon.com if you can’t wait to own it or take a chance that you are going to win it.

When I found my first “Thrift Store” in my youth I was in heaven. All the clothes I could buy so dirt cheap, and knowing how to sew and reform them gave me an extensive wardrobe, the envy of my friends.
When I married it help decorate my home and when my kids came, I could dress them on so much less then my friends, it was shameful what they spent.
I still refashion what I buy or have. It has been at least 40 years now.
Please, enter me.
I could use some new ideas.

Wow, it would be so “awesome” to win this book. My motto this year is to use up my fabric scraps to make MORE quilts; to re-thrift clothing and re-purpose everything I can think of!
This book would be so wonderful to have in my library.
Thanks for the opportunity to win it.

Enter me please, I am an avid thrift store shopper, and I just bought my first used sewing machine. I haven’t yet cleaned the sewing machine, but I have the oil ready. I live on a very tight budget and hope to get a job soon.
