Here is a tutorial on how to felt these delightful pillows. The tutorial looks like a pretty straight forward method and I am going to give it a try.Shelly Whitman of Butternut Woolens lives in live on a 100+ year old former nut orchard with her dear husband and twin sons. The name Butternut Woolens honors an old black walnut tree that was brought to Oregon by settlers and still thrives down by the creek, towering over the wild cherries, alders, red osier dogwood, and oaks.Shelly says; “I made these mane-tossing pillows in an afternoon and they turned out so well I thought I’d share them. Two layers of felted angora over a layer of wool are felted onto a piece of muslin or wool fabric. The fringe is made of locks of sheep’s wool sewn between a strip of quilt hem (wide bias tape) and stitched between the front and back of the pillow. The back can be any fabric you choose, I used scraps of wool. These pillows are 12 inches square and except for the drying time, can be made in about 2-3 hours.”

Hi Linda,
thanks for the shout-out on Craft Gossip. A lot of people don’t
realize that angora rabbit fiber felts into a soft and sturdy fur-
like fabric. The pillows were popular at this weekend’s Oregon Flock
and Fiber Festival http://www.flockandfiberfestival.com.
Best,
Shelly
