Christine White Felt Artist and Author

January 24, 2008 by Linda Lanese

I found Christine White on the Northeat Feltmakers Guild and she is the owner of Magpie Designs Felting Studio in Belchertown, Massachusetts. I find her art felting to be delightful and inspired.  The forms and shapes are lovely.  She teaches all levels of felt making year-round from her studio and travels nationally to lecture and give workshops for guilds and other groups. Chris has been felting professionally since 2001 and has worked in a variety of techniques with internationally known felt makers. Founder of the Northeast Felt makers Guild, she has also written about felt for various publications and served as guest curator for felt shows. She has a book on the market titled Uniquely Felt and of course Amazon has ready to ship.   Because her works are an expression of a given artistic vision rather than technique, Chris works in a variety of felting methods. Her one-of-a-kind works vary in size from intimate color studies to large outdoor sculpture and are bound by the common themes of landscape and emotion. Textural interplay is important in her work and in particular, Chris enjoys creating visual and tactile representations of stone and water.
