Winners of The Noni’s Pattern, Angelika’s Yarn Store, Lacis Museum of Lace & Textiles, Package Giveaway

May 6, 2008 by Linda Lanese

It has taken me all weekend along with other family members, friends and a few other Craft Gossip Editors to select a winner for this giveaway.  Finally, Nora Bellows our Noni Pattern designer with her generous spirit offered to send her lovely pattern and the yarn to the second and third place winners. Number two and three will have to buy the frames or you can do as I did with my second purse, without a frame and improvising. (See purse pictured above).  All your entries were great and I wish you all could have received a prize.

We picked Jersey Jessie as our 1st place winner for her engaging poem about why she wanted the package.

Congratulations Jessie, Kate, Michele and we all want to see the finished bags and we hope you invite your friends and family to come and visit Craft Gossip!

1. Jersey Jessie

I want the pattern for Me-Me-Me,
As selfish as that sounds.
I think it would make me hip as can be,
My friends I would astound.
I’d wear it with jeans, and with a dress,
I’d look so very chic,
No one would think I looked a mess,
I’d no longer look so meek.
If I were sporting the bag in red,
People would stop and stare,
And I would turn every head,
Because I’d look so rare.
So please pick me, I want to win,
The pattern, the yarn and the frame,
Wanting to own it is no sin,
So please select my name.

Since learning to knit I have NEVER EVER made anything for myself. The scarves, afghans, bags, mittens have gone to relatives and friends who love and appreciate them. My washcloths and hats have gone to Homes for the Elderly and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia chemo unit. Every time I look to start something new I say “this time it’s for me” but somehow it finds its way out the door. I would adore these bags and would consider it an honor to make and wear them! Thanks And We liked;

3. Michele Hutchinson

Wow!! What an opportunity. My rebirth into knitting has come with a desire to work with the most luxurious yarns and passionate designers. Only since I have rediscovered knitting have I made time for myself, and I have promised myself it’s time to make something personal. These bags would be just the thing. I recently heard a podcast interview with Nora Bellows and since have saved my pennies to take a workshop with her this summer. I would like to select a lovely Noni pattern, and need to buy the yarn and hardware in advance, and what better than this new, spring collection and you and your sponsors’ very generous offer?

Thank you for your kind generosity in extending this offer to the 2nd and 3rd place winners. I was so excited to wake up to the news that I made the list. I can’t wait to start knitting!

Our winner, Jersey Jessie began knitting and crocheting when she was about 5 years old. Her great aunt designed patterns for yarn companies in the 1940’s and 50’s and she and her mother taught Jessie to knit. She knits constantly and is diverse in her choice of knitting projects and then she discovered felting about 2 or 3 years ago and she has made several felted bags. She designs and knit sweaters and loves using a variety of colors in her designs.

As we all see, Jessie is a awesome poet also!
