Aussie Felts design By Narelle (aka Rell)

November 4, 2008 by Linda Lanese

I found Rell on a Felting and Needle Felting Forum and she creates some adorable creatures that will capture your heart and you will want to own one.  Right now Rell has a shop on EBAY and is selling Needle Felted Artist Bear – “Oscar” is on sale now on EBAY.com.au and he is a cutie.  I have a cat named Oscar and I don’t cats a bears get along 🙂 Do visit Rell at Aussie Felts and I am sure she will be able to answer any questions you have about adopting or buying her babies.

I also put Oscar on “THIS NEXT”

Rell tell about herself on Aussie Felt:

AussieFelts is run by me, an Australian mum by the name of Narelle (aka Rell). I’m in my 30’s, married with two wonderful kids. In January of 2008 I was in an ETSY chat room and I noticed some people were selling needle felted sculptures in their shop. Prior to this I’d never even heard of needle felting. I found a couple of online tutorials that explained the process of sculptural needle felting and my interest in the craft started to grow.In February 2008 I purchased a needle felting kit that would teach me how to make teddy bears. I never did make those bears. My very first item was a yellow cylindrical shape. It wasn’t meant to be anything in particular; I just wanted to see how the needles felted the wool. I then took the rest of the wool from the kit and created a pink cat. Even though I had basic instructions on how to needle felt from the kit, I consider myself to be self taught. I’ve never taken a class and I’ve developed my technique through trial and error.

I’ve always been a crafty/artistic type of person. I can draw. I’m pretty good at coming up with ideas and I really enjoy just creating in general…but I have to say I’ve finally found the craft i’m passionate about. I only wish I had learnt about it much sooner.

I also love felting, have so mny ideas in my head I don’t have time to try them all. I very seldom have 1 done without at least 3 or 4 on my mind to try next. And it’s hard to find a quitting place to stop on at night.

I just wanted to thank Linda for featuring me in this article for Craft Gossip! It really made my day.

Thank you to everyone for their very kind comments too. 🙂

Corky – I know the feeling. I often wonder what would happen if I created a single critter from all of the ideas trying to get out of my head at once. LOL!
