These are so vintage Mod and I always make coasters out of felt and never thought of using the sticky back felt as a base making the much more rigid and stable. You can really go wild here with colors and shapes. This tutorial comes from Better Homes and Gardens. The cost for making these is minimal when you can create the coasters for 40 cents each and they make such a smashing statement. Make them for every holiday or special event.
1. Use a ruler and pencil to draw rectangles and squares of varying sizes on different colors of wool felt; cut out. 2. Create a patchwork design by placing the small felt pieces onto the sticky side of white adhesive-backed felt. 3. When completely covered, cut decorated felt sheet into 4-inch squares.
