Fun little ‘how I did’ step by step.
How about something a bit different! Having had a bit of a search around for needle felted fun, I came across geodes! There are a number of different ways to do them, you can create them as in the picture above, fully felted (wet felted) from the core outward. This is achieved by felting a small ball in the colour you would like for the centre, then wrapping with your next colour and wet felting that, and so on, until you are at the size you want. Then just felt a suitable outer colour, in grey etc to finish off. These are then cut open to reveal the amazing choices within! Scroll down for the link to learn how these are done.
Another way of doing these is to create them with a hollow in the middle, which you can then add sewn beads or glitter glues etc to add some sparkle!
I thought this one particularly interesting as they just cut part of it off rather than completely in half.
This one you can see they sewed all kinds of beads and pearls in there but just kept it to about half of the hollow rather than filling the entire space! I should think you would do the same thing as the tutorial below, but use a resist of some kind in the middle, like a plastic ball.
If you have wet felted before I’m sure you can figure out how to create these, as I didn’t come across a specific tutorial for making them sadly. The one I’m linking here though, she states as not necessarily a ‘how to’ rather a ‘how I did’ but it is still super helpful and does give you a step by step to help you out! Scroll past the fun video at the top and you will find her photos of the process! Click here to find her ‘tutorial’!
Whether you go messy fun or picture perfect like the ones above, I’m sure you will have fun using up spare fibre, choosing bright colours that work together, and getting a workout for your hands! 🙂
These will make wonderful Christmas presents!
Happy felting!
