Simple Wet Felting with Kids. Fun Tutorial

December 27, 2021 by Liza Adams

Do you have kids home for the holidays?  Or are you looking after the grandkids while their parents are at work?  Here’s a quick, and as mess free as possible, wet felting tutorial that you can do at home!

If you’re like me and hesitant to get the wet felting gear out for your younger kids to work with then this might be just the project for you.  Working with zip lock bags you can create as smaller, and somewhat less messy, wet felted creation.

Over at Kleas you will find this tutorial for creating these little pieces of wooly art, right in your kitchen sandwich bag!

What I love about little projects like these is that you can use just any scraps of fibre that you have laying around and get some great little works of art.  Have a rummage through your stash and make up a few bags of scraps you are happy for your budding felters to use so that you aren’t going in and out of your stash as you work.  I get slightly attached to some of my favourite fibre finds but when my kids are looking through with me I relent and tend to let them use whatever they want in the moment.  Then regret it later! lol  Preparation is the key, then you can’t be convinced to part with your favourites! 😉

Of course, you can do a bunch of things with the finished fabric, book covers, wall art, pouches and cases, cushions, brooches, you name it!  So get the kids felting and creating during school break, holidays, or just any old time!

Happy felting!
