5 Tips for Needle Felting Doll Faces!

5 Tips for Needle Felting Doll Faces

I am so excited about today’s post!  As a long time doll lover and collector I can truly appreciate these gorgeous little faces from Fig and Me, but I’m sure they appeal to pretty much anyone right?

Rayne, an 18" petite fig by fig and me.

Many of you have probably noticed the increase of interest in hand made fabric dolls.  When I was little they were called Ragdolls but I resist calling these beauties that as they are so sculpted and unique it just seems like an insult!

Fig and Me in particular create these loveable little friends for children of all ages to enjoy, I know I’m tempted myself! 🙂

I was super excited to find a tutorial over on her website teaching you how to make these sculpted features just like the ones she does herself.  While these dolls are then covered with a ‘skin’ to match the rest of the dolls body, I feel the techniques here are very much useful for those who just want to sculpt the human form and many of us find faces to be the hardest part!  You can make something quite simple in form and really only need a simple face, but somehow what you create can often seem off.

I don’t know about you but this makes me avoid working on people all together so if I can learn a little something to make me a little more brave to attempt something similar again then I know the value in that for all of us!

Pop over to Fig and Me at the website link here to check out the very thorough tips and tricks for making little faces, and of course you will want to rummage through the entire website, then go find her on Instagram and facebook too! 🙂

I hope you will enjoy the article and the entire site especially if you haven’t seen her work before.

Happy felting!
