Needle Felting for Star Wars Month! Free Tutorial from Woolbuddy!

May 5, 2023 by Liza Adams

Needle Felt R2D2 Tutorial for Beginners | DIY Star Wars Craft - YouTube

Who would have thought that you could learn how to make a fairly intricate felted item from a less than 10 minute video?  Well Jackie Huang of Woolbuddy has been working with fibre for quite some time now and if anyone can do it it’s him!!  I’m sure you have already heard of Woolbuddy and seen their very fun creations around.  This time, for Star wars Month (May the Fourth, get it?) you can learn how to make your own R2D2 robot in really authentic detail, from this great video!

I love that this is beginner friendly but it will also be a fun project for more advanced felters as you can make it as detailed as you like!

Crafting Felt Creatures with Woolbuddy - YouTube

If you have always wanted to meet Jackie here is a great video interview taken at a convention a few years ago!  So nice to hear the creator talking about his work, how needle felting is done and showing his favourite creations.

I hope you really enjoyed this project and a little behind the scenes from this great creator and supplier!

Happy Felting!  (and may the felt be with you!)
