It was suggested by a reader, that I do an article about this Australian Felting Artist, Elizabeth Armstrong. I went to her site “Frost Fair†I found the work of a very talented felting artist. Her art runs the gamut from lovely wearable’s to innovative decorative accessories. You must visit her exhibition’s page, astounding! My only complaint is that there was not much information about Elizabeth other than what follows.  I searched the web looking for more about this artist but did not come up with much more than what I am telling you here. If anyone of you know more about her please comment. Elizabeth writes: “Over the last 4 years, I have been privileged to work with a number of schools at both the primary and secondary level. Depending on the projects required, I try to work out a program that will teach as many students as possible about the joy of working with wool.
Students respond to the felting process in a very positive way and the results speak for themselves. Above are some images of these school projects – some remain permanent installations in the school whilst others show individual student workâ€.

Well – what a lovely surprise! Thankyou so much for your interest!
ALthough I have tried many crafts, feltmaking is at the top of the list. I have felted for about 10 years now and it is still as exciting as the first day I started!
I am originally self taught – getting a book from the library and just having a go.
Hand and machine embroidery also feature in my work and marry well with felt as te canvas.
I am of the belief that colour is the key to successful work – find a colourway or selection of shades that you are motivated by and the rest will follow. Spending time reseaching exciting colour groupings paves the way for everything – good technique, thoughtful interpretation and engaging art. For me feltmaking is that vehicle -a chance to show off with colour.
My year in felt consists of classes in my studio, an exhibition and working as an artist in residence.
Last year I had the opportunity to havea solo exhibition in Seoul, South Korea and also ran a series of workshops. These were very exciting and we all had a wonderful time!
To anyone who is considering feltmaking – don’t wait – plunge right in. Just imagine taking a lump of fluff and making a fabric – MAGIC!
