Enee Fabric Design

Nancy Schwab of Enee Fabric Design, located out of San Francisco, California and her nuno felted designs are available on ETSY and Dawnda.  There is a clearance sale on ETSY to make room for the spring 2008 designs.  The Designs and creations of nuno felted items include scarves, garments, and gift items. Nancy has an article titled “Letting Go” that explains to us some of the nuno felting techniques.
Nuno felting is such a great creative exercise, because, as a longtime fabric painter, control is out the window!
If you are just starting out, let this be your guide: you can lay out the fibers, mix and match colors, create layer upon layer, but let go of your design as soon as you start the long, labor-intensive nuno-felting process!
Once you do let go, you will always be delighted with the final results.
I am always amazed at what felting does to fibers – the process makes your design shrink at least 35% – which you must achieve to get a strong and lasting nuno fabric – but these are the usual results:
your colors will “melt” and create brand new colors;
every color will take on a new depth and intensity from the shrinking process
rarely will you be able to duplicate the exact results
which means you are literally PAINTING WITH FIBERS. Take a look at the lovely nuno felted items at either of the shops listed above.
Nancy is also going to be developing online classes in her Blog as well as a subscription feature and she will be making some major changes to her ETSY shop.  I can’t wait to see more of her outstanding felting art.

    I have admired Linda for a long time, so to hear from her and get this notice is a great compliment to me and my nuno felting work.
    I have been at it for just 3 years, but have sold more than 500 scarves online and in craft show events. Always open to learning more, my eyes, ears, and heart are constantly thinking of new ways to nuno, and I also seek out other nuno felters for technique and inspiration.

    My nuno fabrics (now that I am branching out to items like Purses) continue to amaze me when they are done, baked, out of the oven. Nothing better than hanging it up to dry and letting out a big sigh. And when I am that pleased, it goes up online for sale!

    Thank you Linda, I am delighted that you highlighted my designs. Please note that most of my NEWEST 2008 Designs are going to be available on Dawanda this year, and if you have not shopped there, it is a much more intimate experience and very easy to navigate and shop.
