Felt Rock!

What a fun way to decorate your home.  I have been so captivated with these wonderful décor rocks and wanted to share a little about them and their designers with you.  Stephanie Forsythe and Todd MacAllen of Forsythe + MacAllen Design, www.forsythe-macallen.com, have been operating a multi-disciplinary design studio since 1996 and are currently based in Vancouver, Canada. Their early projects, before and after earning their Masters Degrees in Architecture in 2000, were a series of houses in Canada and the United States that they both designed and built. These projects have since won international awards and have been published in several design and architecture books and magazines around the world. According to Sean, “It’s a big ball of felt that’s shaped like a rock. The possibilities are endless. You can ping them off your brother, ping them off your least favorite uncle’s head and, when the latest reality show or “CSI” clone comes on, you can ping them off your TV screen. NOTE:  Not responsible for damage to your family members or TV.”you might see them as toys, you might see them as a unique decoration, or you might see them as a strangely compelling semi-natural oddity. all of the above would be correct. in their raw form, a felt rock is technically a lump of felt formed when small bits of wool fluff gather while making polishing wheels for optical lenses, spun around in a drum with them. with steam and pressure, each stray piece of wool begins to entangle itself with others roughly creating a completely unique rock-like shape without the help of any bonding agents. each felt rock is then carefully selected by Molo and then finished through their own process. felt rocks are solid all the way through, made out of 100% pure wool felt, and carefully dyed. they come in hand selected sets of 5 ( 2 natural and 3 grey, or 2 moss green and 3 grey ) and are packaged in a natural grey wool felt bag. Each one is completely unique with a different shape and size, although most measure around 4 – 6 inches across.
