Yvonne Bävman, South Swedish Wool Sculptor

Yvonne Bävman, south Swedish wool sculptor, felted animals full of personality. She does makes felting classes and workshops, in her studio and occasionally elsewhere, in Sweden and the USA. Yvonne relates. Wool is an exceptional material that is excellent for sculpting. On occasion a wool sweater may be accidentally washed in hot water with catastrophic results; shrinking its size dramatically. This same process is used successfully to achieve shape and movement in felting. This is what fascinates me when I create my animals in the old barn that I use these days as my textile studio. It is with a certain measure of playfulness that I shape the willing wool, an otherwise very classy handcraft material.I truly enjoyed looking at these realistic animals and if anyone here can tell us more about this artist, please leave a comment.  She does marvelous felting sculpture and I am always amazed at incredible items that can be created with wool.  Most of the site is written in Swedish but there is a brilliant gallery to look through.  Just think about having these delightful guys in your yard, they never need feeding or watering, but may have to be brought in when it rains.

I met Yvonne at Høstfest as she sauntered around in her turquoise cowboy boots…lol. The woman has a special soul and her art manifests it beautifully…
