Children can make a felt Mother’s Day Necklace and learn about when Humans Discover Felting

May 2, 2009 by Linda Lanese

kids

Children can make a delightful Mother’s Day felted necklace and learn a little history of felting from the instructions in this PDF file. I went to the Harrisville site but there was nothing linked to this file. The instructions shows the child how to create a simplistic necklace from a little roving and some type of necklace base for the necklace. It can be some type of lacing or even a smooth twine. Take a look at the instructions and introduce the techniques to your child. There is supposed to be a lesson number one and number two, but I am unable to locate them. Once I post this article I will e-mail Harrisville.com and ask if they still have them. All in all I think this is a good project to try with even the youngest children. The tools are there hands, wool roving and some warm soapy water. Have fun and let me know what you think of this lesson three.

I work with developmentally disabled individuals and this sounds like something they will love, I’m always on the lookout for something just like this, I’m going to try it and I’ll let you know!
