Felt Beads from Recycled Wool Sweater Tutorial

February 10, 2011 by Linda Lanese

There is always something new and clever in felting like these Felt Beads from Recycled Wool Sweaters.  On a cold rainy winter day Rebecca Parsons of “Cre8Tive Compass” decided to dig into her felt stash and do something creative that she could share on her new “Live Interactive TV show – Mixin’ It Up with Rebecca on the Cool2Craft Network”.

She started with a beautiful Eddie Bauer sweater that she had picked up at Goodwill. She had been thinking about felt beads ever since she saw some really cool looking jewelry a friend had made with wool roving.

She loves the colors in this sweater so it inspired her to see if she could make some felt beads from a recycled sweater. She looked online to see if anyone had any tips for doing this and she did not find much information. She did find that several people wanted to do it though. So Rebecca set out and achieved her goal and ended up writing this tutorial.  She tells us that it is not exactly by the book felting by any means, but it worked well enough to make this bracelet. She hopes it inspired you to try to make some recycled wool felt beads yourself.
