Mommy Felted Messenger Bag, By Marlaina Bird

July 8, 2011 by Linda Lanese

I designed and my friend machined knit a diaper bag as a gift for my daughter’s Baby shower. Many people wanted the pattern and it was made up as my friend knit it so there is no pattern.  Now we get the advantage of the “Mommy Felted Messenger Bag” pattern designed by Marly.  Marly’s inspiration for this bag came when she saw a quilting magazine with a stunning quilt on the cover. She loved the colors of the one quilt and knew she had to make a bag with those colors. For quite a while she had wanted to design a diaper bag for her friend Tonya for her to use when she goes to China to get her little girl. Well, she finally did it!  It also comes complete with matching changing pad.  To get this pattern, go to Marly’s web site “petitepurls” and tell her you found her on Craft Gossip Felting.

Marlaina “Marly” Bird is a crochet and knitwear designer as well as a popular podcast host of the Yarn Thing Podcast. She has been teaching knit and crochet classes for the past five years and has regular classes at her LYS in Arvada, CO. She is also a mother to three small children and a wife to one very understanding husband. Knitting and crochet are her true passions. She loves to make all things but really loves to create bags and has a website dedicated to teaching knitters and crocheters how to make a purse that will be exactly what they want.
