Up cycled Sweater Slipper Boots Tutorial

January 24, 2014 by Linda Lanese

Sweater Slipper BootsJen of “Drawing Under The Table” made these darling “Up cycled Sweater Slipper Boots” along with a incredible step-by-step pictorial for us to follow.  I love these boots and wear ones similar daily.  Thanks Jen for sharing.

DIY Upcycled Sweater Slipper Boots

Materials Needed:

  1. Scissors
  2. Pins
  3. Yarn
  4. Large darning needle
  5. An old sweater (preferably with a tight weave that won’t unravel easily when cut)

Instructions:

  1. Collect Your Supplies: Gather all your materials listed above.
  2. Trace Your Foot: Place your foot on a piece of paper or cardstock and trace around it, leaving about 1.5cm of extra space for comfort. Cut out the shape and repeat for the other foot.
  3. Cut the Sole Pieces: Place each foot cutout on the body of the sweater and cut around them to create two sole pieces. To prevent slipping, you can use double-sided tape to secure the paper in place while cutting.
  4. Determine Boot Length: Slide your foot into the sleeve of the sweater through the wrist opening. Pull the fabric around your leg to the desired boot length.
  5. Cut Around Your Foot: Carefully cut the fabric of the sleeve away from the sole of your foot, leaving just the bottom of your foot exposed. This creates the leg piece of your slipper boot.
  6. Pin It Together: Attach the sole piece to the leg piece using large pins. Start with one pin at the toe and one at the heel, then stretch the fabric as needed to align the pieces and pin them together.
  7. Blanket Stitch: With the pieces pinned together, use a blanket stitch to sew the sole and leg pieces together. To perform a blanket stitch, push the needle through both layers of fabric from the top, pull the yarn through leaving a small loop, bring the needle back down through the loop, and pull the yarn tight. You can also add a blanket stitch around the opening of the boot for a polished look.
  8. Try Them On: Once stitched, try on your new upcycled sweater slipper boots and enjoy!

These cozy slipper boots are perfect for keeping your feet warm during chilly days and make for great gifts too!

Unfortunately the attention for up cycled boots from a sweater wasn’t here. The post photo shouldn’t be displayed

Yes it’s probably a few years old, looks like the blog is removed. I did find this tutorial from the original after searching the image. Hope it helps! https://icreativeideas.com/how-to-upcycle-old-sweater-into-slipper-boots/
