A collection of gorgeous journal covers to use your wet felted fabrics on!

December 3, 2021 by Liza Adams

DIY Felted Journal Cover, a FiberArtsy.com tutorial

Have you been practising your wet felting techniques and found that you now have a number of pieces of gorgeous felt laying about but no idea what to do with them?  Here’s a great project for you!  Create a cover for a book, and you could make these any size so it doesn’t matter how big that felted piece turned out, there will still be a notebook to fit it!  Just head to your dollar store and buy a few different sizes!  🙂

The one above you can find here at FibreArtsy.com with their basic step by step tutorial.

Here’s another tutorial for those of you who want to use your sewing skills as well as your felting ones!

If your felt is a bit finer or you want to mix your materials and use fabric as well, you might like this very thorough tutorial over at Stitched In Colour for sewing one! I love the instructions for this one so easy to follow, and the finish is perfect!

Want to get a bit more artsy?  This one is gorgeous and just right for those who like to experiment a little!  You can either felt along and create the whole thing or again, just use felt that you already have waiting for the right project!

This one is a bit more mixed media with gorgeous additions like beading and metallic pieces, you could use whatever you have been hoarding (yes I know about that stash!) and while this one is also glued onto the notebook you could always take a little from this project and a little from another and make it removable if you wanted to!  Head over to Expression Fibrearts.com

I’ve got one more for you! This is a little different, in this one you can sew your cover onto your own prepared papers to create the entire book.  You could use this as a junk journal and use all kinds of papers, make this as thick as you like or personalise it for someone you love.

Simple instructions but an excellent and well thought out project I’m sure you will love.  This one is from Unexpected Elegance and that’s where you will find the tutorial! 🙂

I hope you have enjoyed these projects, they are all a bit different but mostly simple and interesting so something for everyone!

Happy felting!
