Writing this Felting column has allowed me to discover and visit with, via the net, many of the fascinating felt artists from around the world. Lori is one of these artists. Her work is a treat to the eye and senses and a must see.   Do visit her site and browse Lori’s Gallery. Lori shares several of her  excellent felting tutorials with us and she also offers felting supplies.   Lori is a true felting artist and I would love to own several of her pieces.Lori Flood has a textile studio in Morgantown, West Virginia. She has been making felt creations for about 7 years and was hand spinning her own yarns, weaving, and knitting for many years before learning the craft of felt making. Her husband, Mark, and daughter, Amanda, also help in the felt and fiber business endeavors. Lori works mostly with wet felting techniques but also incorporate some needle felting techniques in her creations.

Lori Flood’s web site has a caveat that says that it might cause harm. I have no idea what it’s about, but she may not know about it. One cannot get onto the site.

Merino vs Romney Wool – Texture, Structure, and Speed in Felting

When I first switched from Merino to Romney wool, it was a bit of a shock. After months of working with Merino’s buttery softness, Romney felt — well, like I’d traded silk for burlap. But once I got used to … Read More ...
