Felted Wool knotted Flower Scarf Tutorial

May 16, 2011 by Linda Lanese

This is one of the most fascinating felt scarves I have seen.  Amy is so clever the way she reproduced an idea that she only saw for a short while in the checkout line.  While shopping last week, Amy of “Positively Splendid!” saw a woman standing in line who was wearing one of the most unique scarves She had seen in a long while: a pieced series of funky flowers that looked to be made of felted wool. She immediately fell in love with it, and knew she would have to try her hand at creating her own version.

Amy loves the look and feel of wool felt, but it can sometimes be hard to come by, and it tends to be rather pricey. To make this particular scarf, though, she knew no other medium would do. Did you know that you can easily create your own wool felt for pennies on the dollar? That is exactly what she did here, using a few clothing items she found on the 99-cent rack at her local thrift store. She wants to share with you exactly how she did it. And for the sewing novices out there, you’ll be thrilled to hear that if you can cut circles and tie knots, you have all the skills required to tackle this project! So get started on this project and amaze your friends.
